Resources for Children and Families

Resources to help you reach out to Children and Families

We value and respect the role of children in society and in our churches. We note the value that Jesus placed on children and commit ourselves to help children discover a meaningful relationship with Jesus by sharing the gospel in an appropriate and unpressured way. Christian children are so much more than the church of tomorrow. We believe in helping children grow in faith and discover all the joys of discipleship.

We have produced our own Children's Charter below and you can view or download our Children's contacts at RMS here.

We estimate that there are two million children living in UK villages, scattered housing and small market towns. Many of the churches in these rural areas lack an effective programme for sharing the gospel with children and developing discipleship.

Our objective in our children's ministry is to help as many rural churches as possible to develop and maintain appropriate child friendly programmes.

Ideally we seek to do this through partnerships either with existing denominational human resources or possibly through a partnership with other organisations with a similar vision. We welcome contact from any individual, church, groups of churches, or organisation that would like to explore this further.

We often post videos and resources to support children's work. To keep up to date, we recommend signing up to our newsletter (which you can do at the bottom of this screen), follow us on Facebook or revisiting our website again soon.

Working with Children and Families

A great presentation to help rural churches who are wanting to engage with children's work, identifying where you want to be and what you need to do prior to re-shaping or starting your children's work. The session also looks at overview of your legal obligations.

The Letters of Paul

Barry shares a presentation on the composition of the Bible, culminating with the Letters of Paul

The Parable of the Sower

Barry retells the story of one of Jesus' best known parables. Ideal of use in Sunday School or a school assembly

The Rural Mission Solutions Children's Charter

  • We believe that children are of equal value as adults in the eyes of God and therefore should be valued in the Church.
  • Children should be treasured and kept safe.
  • The offer of salvation through faith in Christ and the call to follow Jesus is for all. We respect the faith of children, who are part of the Church today, and not just the Church of tomorrow.
  • The priesthood of all believers includes children.
  • Fellowship is for all. All churches should express God's love irrespective of age, gender or social standing.
  • Worship is for children as much as for adults.
  • Discipleship is for children as much as for adults.
  • Children should be taught appropriately and encouraged to grow in their faith.
  • Christian children are called to be witnesses for Christ. Christian service is for children as well as adults. Discovering, developing and deploying the spiritual gifts of Christian children is a key function of every church.
