Tailored Mission Solutions for Village Churches

How we help village churches

The aim of Rural Mission Solutions is to assist rural churches to engage with their wider local communities in ways that demonstrate the love of God and share their faith. To that end, we offer specialised services to village churches in the UK. We are aware of and alert to the cultural contexts, and the need for care.

In most, if not all the Christian denominations in the rural areas of the UK there has been much encouragement to develop discipleship and engage in mission. That encouragement has not always taken on board either the limitations of village churches or the social context. That is where our experience and expertise can be helpful. We work with village churches across the UK, to release, refresh and resource them for mission.

We believe that Mission can be Fun!

In many rural churches, the idea of engaging in mission creates a negative reaction. But this is usually because the words "mission" or "evangelism" conjure up images that would seem out of place in a village context.  Because we really do understand village life and village church life, we offer a flexible process we know will fit well.  We call this "Mission Can Be Fun"

We start by listening carefully

Mission can take various forms. Often village churches are missional in character without identifying what they might consider ‘normal’ actions as mission. That is why we start with listening and getting to know the people we will be working with.

We seek to inspire and encourage

We know that nothing will take place if people are not motivated and enthusiastic. The Bible is full of wonderful accounts where people discover what God can do with just small and weak resources. Our ‘Away Days’ start and finish with a biblical reflection. Each online session commences with a biblical reflection.

Away Day or Online?

Mission Can Be Fun can be delivered in an Away Day running from 10.00 to approximately 3.30. This includes refreshments and lunch. There will be various activities through the days as we work through key aspects.

The online version is a series of six 75-minute sessions. These are interactive and held fortnightly so those taking part can talk about the process with their friends between each session.

Of the two presentation possibilities, the Away Day is by far the best for the church or group of churches.

Single church or Group?

Mission Can Be Fun was developed with single churches in mind, but can be used by an Anglican Benefice, Methodist Circuit, or any other grouping.

Outcomes and Benefits

Those taking part will have a broader and better understanding of God’s mission and their part in it. The congregation(s) should have a clearer understanding of God’s plan for their church and understand how to take simple first steps towards achieving their goals. People will feel more comfortable and confident in processes designed to fit the participating church(es).
