Rural Mission Solutions is an independent organisation with roots going back over sixty years, but with contemporary experience supported by research. Its aim is to encourage and enable rural churches to develop sustainable, appropriate and effective mission strategies tailored to their unique situations. The starting point for this is who they are and what they have already. In that way it is affordable for even the smallest rural church.

Rural Missions Solutions hosts regular Online Mission Forums for Rural and Village churches to discuss key issues affecting the Rural Church.

The objective of our Forums is sharing insights, knowledge and experience, thereby encouraging and supporting rural churches in their mission.

Background of our Online Mission Forums

In 2022 we hosted a national Rural Review that focused on the changes in UK village life and the life of our village churches.  Follow-up events have focused on how churches can develop and maintain a mutually beneficial link between themselves and their wider village community.

While church buildings are usually at the heart of most villages, engagement with the community has been in decline in many places.  Our Online Mission Forums explore ways in which this essential relationship helps in the sharing of the gospel, leading to growth and the increase of the kingdom of God.  Whether you are looking for answers or already or have a story to share, we hope you will take part in this conversation.

Who would benefit from a Rural Church and Community Forum?

While the consultation is open for anyone to attend, it is particularly for all who serve their local church in any rural setting, lay or ordained.  This could include clergy, licensed lay ministers, PCC members, free-church deacons, church wardens, etc.

Do I need a Zoom Account?

No, that is not essential. You can take part using a computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone.

What form will the consultation take?

The forum will have several key parts, which include:

  1. An introduction, which includes looking at one or more scriptures focused on Mission.
  2. A presentation
  3. Small group Discussion - some of the time will be in the form of conversations, where small groups (e.g. 4 or 5 people) share information about their church and their experiences engaging with the wider community.
  4. Feedback sessions, where each group provides a brief overview and reflections from their discussion

How long will the consultation last?

This will depend on the numbers attending, the ideas shared, and questions raised.  However it will not run longer than 2 hours.

Do I have to stay throughout the time?

We hope that you will do so if possible.  You could leave at any time.

Do I need experience with using Zoom?

Not at all.  Simple guidance will be provided at the start.

About Rural Mission Solutions:

There is more than one way of engaging in mission, just as there are no two villages that are exactly alike. Rural Mission Solutions does not promote any particular method, but helps churches to discover the gifts and other resources God has already given to each church and explore creative ways in which these can be used to respond to the needs and opportunities for being good news to their local community. For this reason, continual enquiry and research help us to help churches to better serve the particular purpose God has for them.
