There are some 17 million people living in rural areas* of the UK. This includes approximately 2 million children. They are served by some 5,000 churches, mostly from the historic denominations. No two villages or village churches are the same. There are different cultural contexts, so one mission strategy will never fit every situation. * Rural Areas: While the UK government includes country towns with populations up to 10,000, our definition excludes settlents above 5,000.
