RURAL MISSION SUPPORT GROUPS
Rural Mission Support Groups are localised informal networks established to provide encouragement and support for rural church leaders, both lay and ordained.
The first such Group was established early in the nineteen nineties and met at Ashburnham Conference Centre, near Battle, East Sussex. It was immediately popular with rural clergy, for whom it became a priority. Other Rural Mission Support Groups were later set up in Laicestershire and Warwickshire.
The Groups are autonomous and need little organisation or planning. Rural church leaders find mutual encouragement and support as they share their recent experiences in missional activity, share their plans for the immediate future, plus any encouragements and challenges they might be facing.
Typically they might only meet for two hours four times a year. Busy clergy usually find a mid-week lunchtime event works best for them. It's amazing that something so little can mean so much.
Anyone could set up a Rural Mission Support Group. An explanatory information sheet with step by step guidance can be downloaded using the link below. Help is available from Rural Mission Solutions both to set up a Group and keep it running.
