How this ministry is funded

The Centre for Rural Mission and Rural Mission Solutions are part of a Christian Charity entitled "Sunrise Ministries".  Our registration number is 802305.

Almost all the churches that we serve are small and have limited financial resources.

As an independent charity we are wholly dependent upon donations from Christians and churches that share our vision for the kingdom of God in rural UK.  We are also grateful for dedicated staff members who are prepared to work for a stipend well below that which they could expect to receive doing similar work not only in a secular context but even in many Christian mission organisations with a focus other than rural.

In addition, all our support team work as volunteers.

Consequently the low operating costs are out of proportion to the value of the work undertaken through this organisation.

It is essential that we do not raise any kind of fee for the churches we serve as this would immediately discourage those who need our help the most.  We do ask that our immediate expenses are covered (e.g. travelling costs, printed material, etc) and that a donation is given if possible.  But this leaves a significant amount to be met, and in this regard we put our trust in God who has called us to this ministry.

Apart from this limited income from the churches served our other sources of income are:

  • Donations made on a regular basis (monthly, quarterly or annually)
  • Occasional "one-off" donations
  • Tax recovered where donations are made under Gift Aid
  • Occasional legacies

Our two distinctive centres of operation each have separate bank accounts managed by a local team accountable to our trustees.  In this way those who have specific interest in either the children's work (undertaken from East Sussex and led by Monica Cook) or the wider ministry (undertaken from the East Midlands and led by Barry Osborne) can direct their giving.

Donations can be made direct to either bank account or sent to our offices.  Details of the bank accounts are contained in the respective support packs that can be downloaded.  There are in Word format to make completion easier.
